SSH 7th Floor

Goal:

Weed ca. 45,000 volumes from the SSH 7th floor

Current status:

Ongoing.

Access Services staff is wrapping up the lists from the first phase of this project.  They are now embarking on phase 2, which involves checking the holdings at the NRLF to reduce the number of volumes UCSD currently has slated to go the SRLF.

Facilities has pulled around 7,500 volumes for withdrawal. DBM is currently coding these records for deletion.  DBM students are currently working on the next batch of 5,000 withdrawals.

Nothing has been pulled for SRLF yet. We can only send 16,000 volumes for FY07/08 and other campus collections also need to send to SRLF. CMWG will decide how many volumes from this project can go to SRLF this year.

Around 37,000 titles currently on the 7th floor are coded as candidates for SRLF (some of these titles are thus coded due to previous weeding efforts)

Method:

The 45,000 volumes are all secondary literature, published more than 10 years ago and not circulated in the last 5 years.
